The International Foundation for Election Systems (IFES) is currently implementing the Promoting the Political Leadership of Youth with Disabilities in the Dominican Republic project funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development. IFES and its local implementing partner the Disability Alliance for our Rights (ADIDE) will work to build the capacities of young women and men with disabilities to engage in political life and become leaders in their communities.
In coordination with IFES HQ staff and ADIDE’s Program Manager, the Program coordinator will provide ongoing organizational capacity training to ADIDE, as well as administrative and operational support to the implementation of the program’s political leadership course and internship program. Job Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to logistical arrangements and support design of the political leadership training curricula and tools.
  • Collect technical input from local disability experts on the training curricula.
  • Identify and cultivate partnerships with academic institutions.
  • Work with local institutions to process the accreditation of training modules.
  • Advise and support with the recruitment and selection of participants and training facilitators.
  • Organize meetings with local stakeholders such as national and sub-national government institutions and political organizations and promote partnerships to implement internships for program participants.
  • Help organize study-tours for program participants.

  • Assist to match program participants to host organizations.

  • Collaborate with host institutions in the development of an individual internship plan.

  • Organize an introductory training for host institutions and support program participants in implementing the training.

  • Support in the development of Monitoring and Evaluation tools such as pre-and post-evaluations, surveys, and help collect and analyze project data.

  • Organize virtual interviews with project participants and key stakeholders to measure the long-term gains of the course.

  • Develop and deliver capacity building workshops and on-site mentoring on project and financial management, M&E, and other topics, as needed, and with the support of external trainers.

  • Organize virtual capacity building trainings with home-office.

  • Ensure the effective management and implementation of training activities, as per work-plan.

  • Assist in the drafting of partnership agreements with host institutions.

  • Contribute to the drafting of quarterly and Final reports

  • Manage petty cash funds

  • Serve as liaison with ADIDE and with USAID

  • Other duties as assigned by the Senior Program Officer and Senior Access & Inclusion Specialist.Qualifications:

  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills;

  • Ability to complete tasks with limited supervision and handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines;

  • Must value operating in a collaborative and cooperating environment;

  • Ability to show initiative, good judgement, and resourcefulness; and

  • Most work well with diverse populations.

  • Completed Bachelor’s degree in political science, international development, management, education or related fields.

  • At least 2 years of direct relevant experience working with international organizations or local US-funded organizations.

  • Experience in program management and local organizational development is highly preferred.

  • Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation methods is highly preferred.

  • Extensive knowledge of disability inclusion and gender equality.

  • Fluency in English required.

  • Availability to work during occasional weekends is required.

  • Some local travel may be required.
