- The general duties of an intern include, but are not limited to:
- Reviewing and reconciling monthly Field Expense Reports and Subrecipient Expense Reports
- Processing Field Accounting data into CostPoint
- Performing account reconciliations and preparing reclasses
- Scanning and uploading documents on SharePoint
- Assisting in the preparation of donor reports, website updates and other internal reports
- Updating and maintaining PACT systems of record
- Providing other logistical and administrative support in conjunction with the intern's skills on assigned countries/projects
- Attending and reporting on internal and external meetings and other discussions about assigned tasks
- Other duties as assigned by division and supervisor
POSITION SCOPE: Provides the support necessary for the team to achieve its goals. Job duties are fairly straight forward and require following common procedures and guidelines. Can manage own workload, time and priorities with close guidance from assigned supervisor so as to facilitate a learning environment per internship guidelines.
DECISION MAKING/PROBLEM SOLVING: Has the knowledge and skills to identify solutions to routine problems. Produces useful ideas or explanations for circumstances, but may need guidance or approval on execution for results.
FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY: None. Can assist in or have exposure to preparing routine financial reports and processing routine transaction in compliance with IFES policies and procedures. All formal postings to the system of record and donor reporting will be completed by full-time PACT staff, however, the interns will help with analysis and preparation.
RELATIONSHIPS: Maintains collaborative working relationship with team members and other staff within the Division.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None Qualifications:
Education: Undergraduate or graduate student currently enrolled at an accredited college/university, or recently graduated no more than a year at time of application. Education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or International Business is preferred.
Experience: None. Relevant experience, familiarity, or interest in international development or related field preferred. Previous internship(s) experience for accounting or with an international NGO a plus.
Related Skills or Knowledge: Excellent research and analytical skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word, QuickBooks or similar accounting software systems. Introductory experience in or familiarity with program accounting or non-profit accounting, and/or working with US Government funding a plus. Detailed oriented and organized. Ability to prioritize, take direction, and handle varied tasks within deadlines. Strong communicator, both verbally and in writing. Collaborative, team oriented individual.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: English required. Proficiency in another language a plus
