IFES is an international, nonprofit organization that supports the building of democratic societies. IFES provides targeted technical assistance to strengthen transitional democracies. Founded in 1987 as a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization, IFES has developed and implemented comprehensive, collaborative democracy solutions in more than 135 countries.
IFES is currently implementing several projects in the Americas region. We provide technical assistance to electoral management bodies in different areas of the electoral process, including but not limited to, voter and candidate registration, election administration and strategic planning, communications and outreach, political campaign finance, electoral security, and inclusion of vulnerable or traditionally marginalized populations. The Program Coordinator is the entry level position to program work at IFES, providing support to the program division, primarily but not exclusively - to the Haiti program. S/he provides varied support functions and performs routine job duties requiring familiarity with program management, proposal development, and research and development initiatives. Contribute to program planning and development and coordinates work activities performed by internal and external partners.
· Assist with program work and other special projects for the division.
· Contribute to analytical and programmatic reports.
· Participate in the budget development processes.
· Use IFES tools to monitor labor utilization and project expenses.
· Coordinate project implementation and monitoring.
· Troubleshoot project problems; identify and implement creative solutions.
· Review/prepare/submit material for procurement including drafting RFP/RFQ, prepare selection packages, track existing contracts.
· Participate in proposal development and new initiative processes.
· Assist with recruitment of field staff and consultants including preparing job posting and collecting documents for hiring packages.
· Attend meetings at request of supervisor to gather and share information with colleagues.
· Under the direction of the supervisor, provide training and some guidance to interns.
· Backstop other regional programs, as needed.
· Other duties as assigned. Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree required in relevant field; Master’s degree is a plus.
Experience: At least 2 years’ relevant experience in international development or related field.
Related Skills or Knowledge: Experienced with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint required. Familiarity with USAID regulations and reporting requirements preferred. Detailed oriented and organized. Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines. Strong communicator, both verbally and in writing. Collaborative, team oriented individual. Introductory experience in proposal development required, with experience in program management and supervisory roles.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Fluency in English required. Additional knowledge of French is highly desired.
